Welcome

Hello and welcome to my webpage! My name is Heath and several years ago I made the decision along with my girlfriend to purchase a pet rabbit from a local pet store. She previously had a pet rabbit as a child so we had an idea of their basic needs, but there was a lot more information worth knowing out there that we did not know and I wish we had taken the time to educate ourselves or better yet had someone explain this to us before we fully committed to getting our bunny. Every year around easter there is a spike in sales of rabbits as pets and I firmly believe that there are a significant amount of pet rabbits across the world that don't get the care that they require. Many people believe that smaller animals such as hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits are a much easier alternative to a cat or dog but they present their own challenges and I believe that for a lot of people a bunny may even be more difficult to accomodate than a larger animal that can roam freely about their home without causing a mess. I find rabbits to be a very rewarding pet but the level of involvement it takes to own them is not for everyone. If you're considering getting a pet rabbit I urge you to research them a moderate amount to know what exactly you're getting into, and I've compiled information across these various pages for those curious about getting a fuzzy friend.
Overview

Before getting a rabbit, you should make sure that you have the space to properly accomodate one as they actually require a lot more room than a plastic enclosure that you'll find at pet stores can provide. I definitely recommend setting this up before you get a rabbit, but just having the supplies to set one up when you bring your bunny home works also and is a huge help. You should also know that they require several different types of food, and that the colorful food brands usually aren't good for any pet and the better brands are somewhat pricy. On top of having a spacious enclosure, you'll want to be able to let your bunny out to explore to really enhance its quality of life and rabbits can be very destructive so you'll want to bunny-proof anything and everything that a rabbit may want to munch on. This includes anything from the obvious such as cords to something you may not consider like your wooden baseboards.
